Earning an education in any field is a journey. While your focus is on absorbing and learning as much as possible, honing your skills, and mastering your craft; graduation is the starting line, not the finish. When you consider which school to attend there are many things to keep in mind. The curriculum, the faculty, the reputation and history of the program; but you should also consider what measures and resources are in place to help you make that transition from student to professional. While any academic institution’s goal is to prepare you for a career, it should also have platforms and processes to get you there as well.
At Louisiana Culinary Institute, in addition to a state-of-the-art culinary education, you also receive a number of job placement and career counseling opportunities. These are available both while you are enrolled as a student, and after you graduate. The alumni network of LCI is a large, proud, successful group; between those connections and the other platforms in place, LCI helps to ensure that your first step off of campus is into a kitchen. But how?
LCI maintains job boards with the latest employment and career opportunities available for their students. As these posts are updated you’ll have access to the latest information on positions and companies in the area looking for your particular skillset.
The Alumni Newsletter distributed by LCI also features the latest job posts as requested by employers. So even after you leave campus you’ll still be plugged into the latest news about the school, and potential career opportunities.
Restaurants, hotels, catering companies, and other businesses needing to hire employees have the ability to visit the classes at LCI to share information about the roles they are looking to fill. This is a great opportunity for students approaching graduation. This also offers newer students insight into some of the positions available as they near the end of their education.
LCI hosts job fairs throughout the year. These gatherings are beneficial to hiring companies, students, and alumni alike.
Louisiana Culinary Institute has a number of long standing relationships that create incredible professional opportunities for students and alumni alike. Each November representatives from the Master’s visit Baton Rouge to interview students and alumni to work at the next year’s Master’s tournament. They return the following January to hire. This is only one incredible opportunity that is available. LCI students are also eligible for the Disney Culinary Quick Bites program. This internship program takes place at Walt Disney World in Orland, Florida and is a great chance to learn transferrable skills and gain industry experience.
