Job Description/Duties/Responsibilities: Position Summary:
Squire Creek Country Club is seeking an exceptional Executive Chef to lead its culinary team, elevate the club's dining offerings, and ensure the highest standards of quality and consistency. The Executive Chef will oversee the operation of the club’s kitchens, including the main kitchen, Fazio Grill kitchen, and poolside café, ensuring an exceptional dining experience for members and guests.
As the face of the culinary team, the Executive Chef will interact with members, lead a talented team of 15 full-time staff (including two sous chefs), and manage seasonal part-time staff. This hands-on leadership role requires strong culinary expertise, a passion for innovative cuisine, and the ability to maintain consistency in every dish while adhering to the club's high standards. The new Executive Chef must have a strong culinary vision and the ability to drive dining offerings, from creative buffets to evolving menus, while fostering a positive and respectful team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily operations of all kitchens (central kitchen, Fazio Grill kitchen, poolside café kitchen) to ensure food quality, consistency, and member satisfaction.
• Lead, train, and mentor culinary staff, including sous chefs, to develop their skills and maintain high food quality and presentation standards.
• Ensure effective communication between the culinary team and other departments within the club.
• Regularly interacting with members in the dining rooms, gathering feedback, and ensuring an outstanding dining experience is a key part of this role. We value our members' opinions and believe that their satisfaction is integral to our success.
• Develop new, creative, and innovative menu items while staying current with culinary trends and equipment.
• Ensure consistency in every dish by maintaining meticulous attention to detail in planning, sourcing ingredients, and overseeing preparation.
• Attend committee meetings and provide updates, taking member feedback into account when planning menus and special events.
• Evaluate culinary staff performance, providing coaching, counseling, and appropriate rewards and discipline.
• Responsible for submitting and adhering to the culinary department’s budget, including aligning with strategic goals and meeting financial targets.
• Collaborate with the General Manager and other Department Heads to ensure smooth operations and coordination of events.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as an Executive Chef or in a similar senior culinary leadership role, preferably in a high-end club or resort setting.
• Strong culinary knowledge with the ability to produce creative and high-quality menus, catering to à la carte and banquet service styles.
• Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, cost control, and maintaining profitability.
• A passion for culinary excellence, with a deep understanding of food trends, seasonal ingredients, and innovative cooking techniques.
• A hands-on leader who leads by example and ensures high food quality and presentation standards.
• The ability to interact with and build relationships with members, creating a welcoming and memorable experience.
• Commitment to maintaining high cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Culinary degree or equivalent formal training.
• Experience working in an upscale country club or resort environment.
• Familiarity with menu planning for both casual and formal dining experiences.
