Cooking is not only a regular part of life, but it can an enjoyable, relaxing, and rewarding hobby. Whether you are recreating recipes that have been handed down for generations, or attempting to follow along with a cookbook or video, there is always something new to learn. Here is everything you need to know about participating in the variety of culinary leisure classes at Louisiana Culinary Institute.
Beyond learning new things and expanding your repertoire in the kitchen, there are a variety of other benefits you can take away from a cooking leisure class. Whether you are looking to sharpen your skills, learn the best practices, or expand your culinary horizons, a leisure class can provide all of this and more. Gaining hands on experience is priceless.
There are a variety of leisure cooking classes at LCI. Some classes are focused on specific skills in the kitchen, like knife skills. There are also classes that focus on specific types of cuisine. From Cajun and Creole to Chinese to Thai, you can learn flavor profiles and cooking techniques from around the world. Throughout the year there are different seasonal courses available as well.
Our leisure classes are taught by our professional chef instructors. This means that you get the same quality instruction as our culinary schools. Learn the skills, techniques, and lessons that you can use while preparing any meal.
The leisure classes at LCI last for 3 hours. Typically, on a Thursday from 5pm to 8pm or Saturday from 9am to 12pm. Please check each individual class for dates and times.
There is a dress code for the leisure classes at Louisiana Culinary Institute. This dress code is designed with your safety and comfort in mind. The leisure class dress code includes:
• Close toed, non-slip shoes
• No oversized or baggy clothing
• No excessive or hanging jewelry
Because you’ll be creating large dishes with restaurant grade equipment a liability waiver will also need to be signed.
Gift certificates can be purchased for the cooking fanatic in your life, or for yourself to use at a later date.
Minimum age for attendance is 14 with a participating adult, unless the class specifically states otherwise. Two (2) spaces must be purchased for attendance.
