A little healthy competition never hurt anyone
While in attendance at LCI, students are afforded numerous opportunities to compete in competitions, both within and outside of LCI. Competitions assist students in honing not only their culinary skills, but also their time management, imagination, teamwork, and presentation skills. Consistently, students compete in the following:
Race to Cannes Competition: Students compete in this single-round elimination cooking competition for a trip to the Cannes Film Festival, where the winner will be part of a culinary team that will cook for the entire Cannes Film Festival in France. Click here to follow this year competition!
The Home Plate Classic Competition: An annual tradition at LCI, students from all class levels are paired into culinary teams that compete in a mystery basket type competition. The winning team receives medals, school bragging rights, media attention and their signature on the Home Plate Trophy that is displayed in the awards cabinet.
Grudge Matches: These in-house competitions feature students from one class, usually lower classmen, challenging students from another class, usually upper classmen, to a competition. The winning class receives prizes and school bragging rights.
Other In-House Competitions: Students have competed in various other in-house competitions, including the Fall Baking Contest, the Cup Cake Competition, One-on-One Challenges, etc.
Outside Competitions: Students have competed in various outside competitions, including the Alligator/Seafood Soiree, the Baton Rouge Center for World Affairs International Cooking Competition, the Baton Rouge Culinary Classic, etc.
